A Call To Arms

Liberty and freedom took a slap upside the head on Thursday. The Supreme Court ruled in a 5-4 decision that Obama Care is constitutional, and was upheld. Chief Justice John Roberts was the deciding vote siding with the more left-leaning Justices, and wrote the majority decision.
The individual mandate, which forces the American people to buy government health insurance or pay heavy penalties was not upheld in the Commerce clause of the Constitution, but in the Necessary and Proper clause as a tax.
Wait a minute! Anybody even remotely connected with the Obama administration swore up and down that this was not a tax! Well guess what America! it's all a big fat lie, perpetuated by this President (shocking!), and his newly appointed accomplices on the Supreme Court.
Obama Care hits the American taxpayers with a whopping $1.7 trillion dollars in new taxes over the next decade. Of the 21 tax hikes that would take place in that time, 12 would effect families earning less than $250,000 a year, a.k.a- small business. This also includes penalties that employers who do not insure their employees with Obama Care would pay. This will be the largest tax increase in American history.
We all know, however, that staggering tax hikes are just the beginning. it is the beginning of government being ever more intrusive in the lives of everyday Americans. If the government can tell you which doctor to see, and if you do not you will be punished in the form of a tax, what's next? Can the government "tax" you into eating healthy foods? Excercise? Not drinking or smoking? Oh forgive me, Michelle Obama is already working on the healthy foods part of that scenario isn't she? Is the next step a single payor system?
For Conservatives, this means only one thing. The fight has just begun. If Conservatives really needed another motivating factor to not only vote themselves in November, but make sure everyone they know votes as well, this is it. We are being called to stand up and fight for our country, and our freedoms in a way that most of us have never experienced in our lifetime. This is serious people. It is crunch time. The nation that produced great Americans like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Frederick Douglass, and Ronald Reagan is being chipped away at little by little. And today's ruling is one more big chunk hanging by a thread. As soon as you say,"That can't happen in America." Think again.
There was a quote from James Carville on The Drudge Report today. he said,"The Tea Party is over."
  Think again.

Arizona vs. Obama

Barack Obama, in some way, nearly every day, shows the American people why he is completely unqualified to be the President of the United States.
In a petty and downright childish move after Monday's Supreme Court ruling to uphold a portion of Arizona's immigration law that gives Law Enforcement the right to ask about a person's immigration status if they are pulled over for a traffic violation, and the police have reason to check their status. The Obama administration directed the Department of Homeland Security and I.C.E. to decline any phone calls from Arizona it may get regarding deportation of illegal aliens, unless that person is wanted for a felony. The administration has also directed the Department of Justice to set up a 24-hour hotline for anyone who feels that they have in any way been racially profiled by any Arizona Law Enforcement Officers to report the incident.
We established long ago just how thin-skinned this President is (oops, is that racist?). We have all seen him get snippy with any reporter who dares to offer up the slightest criticism. But this takes it to a whole other level. What the Obama administration has told the people of Arizona is, "We care more about people who have snuck into this country illegally, so we can insure Hispanic votes to win an election, than we do about the safety of our borders and the people who live and work on them, the sovereignty of this nation, and following the rule of law as stated in the Constitution." Barack Obama has done nothing but simply throw a temper-tantrum because he did not get his way. What's next? Throwing himself on the floor kicking and screaming?
The Obama administration has decided it will be selective of which laws it chooses to enforce and ones it does not. If we follow this "logic", who is to say that if he is defeated in November that he will participate in the peaceful transfer of power? We already know how he feels about the 10th Amendment. We can probably guess what his thoughts are on the 22nd Amendment.
One of the few things the Federal Government is charged with doing is protecting and defending the nation. The people of Arizona are only doing what the Federal Government refuses to do. And it just so happens that they refuse to do it in an election year, in a state with a large Hispanic population.
Let's hope that the American people decide to throw one giant temper-tantrum in November.

The Beginning Of The End?

This could be shaping up to be a bad week for the President. Sorry if I am having trouble working up a tear.
While the nation eagerly awaits the Supreme Court's decision on Obama Care, the Court ruled today that a portion of the Arizona Immigration law, the part that says police can inquire about someone's immigration status during a traffic stop if they feel there is a reason to will be upheld. A victory, albeit small, for legal immigration. But that is just the beginning. Attorney General Eric Holder will more than likely be held in contempt of Congress over the debacle known as Fast and Furious. Someone posted a great question on the internet the other day. The mainstream media could not get enough interviews with Trayvon Martin's mother, but we have heard very little from Josephine Terry, the mother of slain Border Agent Brian Terry.
Things that make you go hmmm.....
But let's start with the victory in Egypt's Presidential Election by the Muslim Brotherhood. Mohammed Morsi won with 51% of the vote over Hosni Mubarak's last Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq who garnered 48.3% of the vote. People like Glenn Beck and Rep. Allen West (R-FL) have been warning for at least a year that this could become a reality. They were called "alarmists" and "loose cannons" for their troubles. But if Beck and West, guys who have no inside intelligence knowledge could easily predict this, how could the President not see it coming? The answer, at this point, is that he must have known. The United States is into Egypt to the tune of $1.5 billion dollars a year in foreign aid, and there is credible proof that people with very close ties to the Muslim Brotherhood are frequent and welcomed White House guests. Are we to assume that any Military and/or Intelligence personnel on the ground were summarily ignored? If the track record for this administration has proven anything at all, it would be that anything is possible.
Many in Egypt are very concerned, and rightly so, that the new President will institute a strict Islamic State, complete with Sharia law, and the vigorous enforcement thereof. Also in question is the safety of Egypt's Coptic Christians who make up roughly 10% of the population. Is this the "Arab Spring" that the Obama administration jumped up and down about last February?
The re-election of Barack Obama, or not, could hinge on many of this week's events. Maybe whoever is in charge of throwing those swanky White House parties can book an old-fashioned beer summit for the President. It looks like he is going to need one.

Whatever It Takes- Part 2

Between now and November, there will be literally hundreds if not thousands of blogs, online articles, and television stories about how the mainstream media is Barack Obama's biggest cheerleaders. How they will go to any lengths, skew any report, edit any video tape, all in the hopes that after the election, they can slap each other on the back, and tell each other how instrumental they were in, God(dess) forbid, getting Obama re-elected.
I think I can safely speak for a lot of us who might be classified as "new media", bloggers, broadcasters, online reporters, when I say that we have some questions. Our questions go something like this: Is there a point when it is too much? Is there still a line that cannot be crossed? Has that line permanently disappeared in the age of Obama? When do even the most hardcore leftists scratch their pointy heads and ask, "Hey Dude, are journalists supposed to do that?"
Anyone who has seen the hopeless video hatchet job done on Mitt Romney today by Andrea Mitchell on every one's favorite tingly network MSNBC, or Lawrence O'Donnell, who is not a Doctor, but apparently plays one on TV, questioning how Ann Romney treats her MS by riding horses, knows full well that this is only the warm-up.
We have all been treated to such things as "journalists", and I will use that term loosely throughout, giggling happily as a reporter threw a shoe at former President George W. Bush, and what amounted to making fun of Sarah Palin's son Trigg, who has Down's Syndrome.
What was on display today was nothing less than journalistic malpractice. Certainly, Andrea Mitchell was well aware that her staff had cut at least two minutes of tape to reach the desired result. And if she wasn't, is that not also extreme journalistic negligence? The final product took Gov. Romney completely out of context and made him look foolish and out of touch with the American People. But isn't that the objective nowadays anyway?
Lawrence O'Donnell did not "want to make light" of Ann Romney's condition, but isn't the sport of dressage "wildly expensive", something that not every MS patient can afford? Make no mistake. If they are starting in on Ann Romney's condition now, wait until a week before the election, and polls show that Romney is ahead in key battleground states by more than the margin of error. It kind of makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up to imagine what these people will not have a problem engaging in.
Many are calling for Andrea Mitchell to be suspended or fired. Don't hold your breath. In the world of mainstream media Liberals, this is a resume enhancement.

Attention!
A major announcement concerning The Conservative Cauldron coming in a few weeks!! Stay tuned!

Whatever It Takes

Well, it looks as though the Democrats have the 2012 election all sewn up. Let's see, they have all the convicted felons, and dead people on board. Who else were they missing? Oh that's right, trying to figure out a way to make it possible for illegal aliens to vote! Sorry, but if you have not figured out that we are NOT politically correct here at The Conservative Cauldron, well, I can't help you.
Anyway, President Obama, once again, did another end-run around that pesky Constitution, you know, that "living breathing" document? In an Executive Order today, the President stated that the United States would no longer deport young illegal aliens, but instead, those who are younger than 30, but older than 16, would find it much easier to get work permits. This would effect roughly 800,000 young people, who were brought here illegally as children.
Those of us who fully understand why people will risk life and limb to come to America know that part of the reason they do so is that so their children can experience all the possibilities that America has to offer. Anyone who can remember the story of five year old Elian Gonzalez, who was found floating in the Atlantic ocean with the body of his Mother beside him had to get a lump in their throat just knowing that she was more than willing to give her life so that he could come here and succeed. Unfortunately, we all know how that story ended.
Today's announcement has nothing to do with offering a chance to young people who were brought here by no fault of their own. No, today was about elections. Elections and politics. Pure and simple. Historically, Democrats have carried the Latino vote. What makes this year different? Perhaps the looming possibility of Florida Sen. Marco Rubio being named as Mitt Romney's Vice Presidential pick has Liberals getting all nervous and sweaty. Could it be that even though they tend to vote Democratic, Latino voters are quite a traditional group of people. Very pro-family and predominantly Catholic. Hmmm, I seem to remember Obama being in the dog house with Catholics lately over mandated birth-control clauses in Obama Care. Any connection? You be the judge.
One can also imagine that this announcement is also very welcome by natural born Americans who have been out of work for a year or more. Just what they want to hear. More competition for jobs. although the Obama re-election team stated a while ago that they had written off the White working class vote. How convenient.
I am reminded of a scene in the movie "Ghostbusters". When the Mayor of New York is deciding whether or not to send in the Ghostbusters to eradicate all those nasty spirits, Bill Murray looks at the Mayor, pats him on the cheek and says, "Think about it. Lenny...you will have saved the lives of thousands of registered voters". Next scene, in go the Ghostbusters.
Bottom line. This is an election year. Whatever it takes.

A Question Of Faith

This past weekend, I attended the 20th Annual Pagan Picnic, held here in St. Louis. As a Wiccan who does not practice in a group, no, wait a minute, Coven is NOT a dirty word! As one who does not practice in a Coven, it is a great time for Witches and other Pagans to get together with others of like mind, to just be together, hang out and mingle with each other. The Picnic gets bigger every year, and there is always lots to do. Plenty of vendors, food, music, workshops, and even fun things for the kids to do.
But something occurred to me as I was on the way home on Saturday. We all have such busy lives. Home, spouses, kids, jobs, and all the other little things in between those big things. Like everybody else, I too have all those things to deal with. I work 40 hours a week, have a husband and home, my kid comes in the form of a 50lb Border Collie Mix, who knows without a doubt that the Universe does, in fact, revolve around her. I have bills to pay, and just generally things that need tending to. Also, as someone who is hopefully in the process of changing careers, I am in the thick of that as well. I realized that in the midst of that whirlwind, more often than not, on a night of the Full Moon, or a Sabbat, for those of you unfamiliar, a Wiccan holiday. The last thing I want to do is peel myself up off the couch, go into the spare bedroom where my altar is set up, and light a candle. Simple explanation, I feel as though don't have time to "be a Witch".
People of all faiths will tell you that it is not how many times you warm a church pew, or pick up your sacred book, which ever one that may be, it is about what is in your heart that counts. I agree with that for people of all faiths. But how many of you, when life just seems to keep throwing things at you, all of a sudden look up and realize that it has been a month or more since you have been to Church? Wow. Now THERE'S a concept! It happens to ALL of us!
I think that most of us will also say that our faith is ingrained in us. It is part of who we are as individuals, part of what defines our identity. For a lot of people, they were born into their respective faiths. It is all they have ever known. I certainly don't diminish that. I however chose mine. Although my family and friends may say that I was always a Witch, I just found a name for it. I don't ever want to feel as though I am short-changing something that I freely chose to be. Could it be that this faith thing takes some effort? Some time set aside out of your day with no excuses given? Seems like something you would automatically know to do, like brushing your teeth. But maybe some of us have harder heads than others.
Well, I have had my Pagan Fellowship fix for now. I say that I would like to get more involved with the group that puts on the Picnic every year. It would be nice to have that being together feeling more than once a year.
But like a lot of things, it begins at home.

Conservatism Rules!

The sun is shining, the birds are chirping! What a great day for freedom, liberty, and Conservatism!
Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker soundly defeated Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett for the second time in as many years in what was a Gubernatorial recall election with national implications and a lot of national attention. Walker finished with 53% of the vote to Barrett's 46%. A recount-proof, fraud-proof margin.
Walker's victory last night was a referendum on so many levels. For too long, Liberal Democrats have had the advantage over Republicans when it came to Grassroots organizing and Get Out The Vote campaigns. Sure, they have been able to motivate all those convicted felons and dead people like no other group, but Conservatives proved to themselves and to the nation that we also, are now Community Organizers. The Democrats will whine about how they were outspent, but it is boots on the ground that got 36% of Union households to vote for Walker.
Last night was also a big referendum on the scope of power and influence of Public Sector Unions. Big Labor Union bosses have had such an incestuous relationship with the Democratic Party. They have deposited millions of dollars into the hands of Democrats, and no longer represent the interests of their rank and file members. In return, they have gotten huge pension and benefit plans that taxpayers have footed the bill for. Is it any wonder that non-Union working people, who make up 93% of the work force in Wisconsin, and who contribute a portion of their earnings to their own benefits finally snapped and demanded the same from Union members who are a mere 7% of the workforce?
And it is a HUGE referendum on Barack Obama, and his big government bloated policies. Obama was nowhere to be found in Wisconsin to lend support to Tom Barrett. Do doubt, not wanting to be associated with a campaign that, in the last few weeks, did not look good politically for Democrats. With friends like Obama to throw you under the bus, well, you know the rest. He did find time the night before the election to shoot an encouraging tweet Barrett's way.
Since he took office in 2010, Scott Walker has taken Wisconsin from a $3.6 billion dollar deficit, to a $275.1 million dollar surplus without raising taxes. Wisconsinites know that fiscal responsibility is the only answer for their state. They have seen it work. Now, the rest of the country needs to wake up and realize that America is going down the same hole that Wisconsin has been rescued from.
Liberals will of course try to spin the message of this election, and just generally throw a giant temper tantrum. The way they usually do when they don't get their way. DNC Chairman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz recently blathered on about how this election was a "dry run" for November.
You bet it is Deb!
